New York, 14 September 2017 – Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus will lead the WHO delegation participating in the high-level segment of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, which starts 18 September in New York: Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.
WHO will emphasize the importance both of safeguarding the health of all people in the interests of global security and sustainable development, and of international partnerships – with and between governments and development actors, and across sectors.
WHO will organize a number of high-level events, and Dr Tedros and other senior officials will participate in many more.
