alt Safe Orthopaedics launched their innovative SteriSpinePS Pedicle Screw System — the world’s first full-featured lumbar fixation system in a sterile, traceable and single-use format — at the SpineWeek international trade show held in Amsterdam this 28 May – 2 June. Providing clear improvements in cost effectiveness, safety and efficiency compared to traditional implants, the benefits of the SteriSpine PS system are evident to surgeons and hospital staff alike.

“Response to the technology was even better than we expected,” said Safe Orthopaedics’ founder and CEO, Dominique Petit. “Innovative instrument design and the benefits of the new delivery model were very well received.”

The launch of SteriSpine™ PS in Amsterdam marked the beginning of a phased roll-out that will expand geographically throughout 2012. Positive response to this innovative technology continued the following week at the Congrès SFCR held 7 – 9 June in Strasbourg.

“The development of single-use instruments for spinal fusion surgery is seen as a real innovation,” said Petit. “Our mission will be to expand on this idea across surgical technique and specialities, with a constant eye on proprietary intellectual property.”

In the last year, Safe Orthopaedics has filed more than 10 patents, and the company’s team of experienced R&D professionals continues to focus on designing innovative, proprietary instrumentation that provides improved safety and efficacy.

“From day one, Safe Orthopaedics has shown a strong intellectual property focus,” says Pierre Breese, president of Fidal Innovation, a Paris-based intellectual property law firm. “The foundation of the portfolio is innovative design that enables model change. This change delivers significant advantages to the hospital, surgeon and patient. Safe Orthopaedics is well positioned to protect this innovation with a comprehensive IP portfolio.”

About Safe Orthopaedics: Safe Orthopaedics was founded (Paris, France) in 2010 by Dominique Petit, a 22-year entrepreneur / engineer veteran of innovative spine technologies, Pierre Dumouchel, industrialization expert, and Thomas Droulout, technology and materials expert.
In line with the significant healthcare issue of today, Safe Orthopaedics is focused on enhancing the cost-effectiveness, safety and efficiency of orthopaedic implant / instrument systems. These enhancements are achieved by a new model of single-use, sterile and traceable orthopaedic procedure kits. By streamlining the expensive, complex and inefficient process by which implant systems are delivered, Safe Orthopaedics endeavors to dramatically improve the value proposition of these procedures for hospitals, surgeons and the collective healthcare systems they serve.
